For this installation, I used a spare laptop (IBM ThinkPad 600E) with a fresh installation of Windows XP Professional. I didn't add any of MS's patches. The laptop has only one USB port so I used the serial tower.

To avoid trouble with camera dection, pre-install the Logitech camera drivers for Windows 2000:
Download the Vision Command Pre-Install data. The data is available as one 50MB file or as five 10MB files.
Insert the Vision Command CD. If the Launcher program appears, close it.
Run the Pre-Install files that you downloaded earlier. Follow the prompt to extract each package.

Open the "Install VC Files" desktop shortcut and follow the prompts.

The batch script installs a registry entry needed later by the Vision Command Updater program. Click "Yes" to add the entry into the registry.

Data from the Vision Command CD is copied to the hard drive then the cam installer is launched. Click "Continue" and accept the defaults for a complete installation on the remaining screens.

Two "Driver Signature Not Found" messages will appear. Click "Yes" on both of them.

When you click "Finish", the computer will reboot.

After reboot, the setup will continue. Click "Next".

Plug in the cam and click "OK". The computer will detect new hardware.

Click "Yes" on the two "Driver Signature Not Found" messages...

...and "Finish" on the driver wizards...

...and "No" on the reboot message. (If you do reboot, you should continue from this step when the machine comes back up.)

Open the "Update Vision Command" desktop shortcut and follow the prompts.

Close the Vision Command launcher program. The script window closes and should remove the two setup shortcuts. (If not, they can be deleted manually).
Run Vision Command and enjoy!
